Its core function is to maintain a stable internal relative humidity (typically 65%-72%) and an appropriate temperature (approximately 18-21°C or 64-70°F) to preserve the cigar's flavor, elasticity, and burning characteristics. These units typically feature Spanish cedar wood lining for its natural humidity-regulating properties, combined with a precision hygrometer and a humidification system (such as a humidifier, electronic humidifier, or humidity packs) to form a passive or active humidity control system. Primary use cases include personal collections, cigar retail shops, high-end lounges, and clubs, targeting cigar enthusiasts, professional collectors, and gift buyers. Based on structure and capacity, common types include desktop humidors (often featuring a glass top observation window, accessory drawers, and locking mechanisms), portable travel humidors (emphasizing seal and shock resistance), and large cabinet/floor-standing humidors (with storage capacities ranging from hundreds to thousands of cigars). The quality of the sealing mechanism and material selection directly determines the stability of its humidity maintenance performance.
